When we got home from our short trip to Albion
we parked in the garage and after unloading the car I went
to our front door, opened it, and noticed all this
trash on our front mat.
Some clever bird had again made a nest in our wreath. Last year we discovered
the nest after the bird had laid her eggs and so felt that we couldn't disturb her
nursery. You wouldn't believe the mess we had to deal with for over a month!
Our front door was constantly covered with mudd, bird poop, etc. until the
little darlings were hatched and old enough to leave the nest. As you can see,
if you look closely at the pictures, the mess had already begun.
Fortunately for us, we got home in time to avert disaster.
I know a lot of hard work went into the building of this
prime property, but she should have asked first!
Since the nest was empty, we felt free to take over our
front door and remove the unwanted nest. We have now posted
a no trespassing sign on our front porch (in the form of a very
scary looking plastic owl) and hope that will save these squatters from
wasting a lot of precious time, especially when they are in a
"motherly condition" and time is of the essence!

That is so funny! Well, I guess if you wouldn't put such an inviting wreath on the door you wouldn't keep having this problem. lol
Good save, Mary!!
That is adorable! Much cuter than the wasps that have made a home on the ceiling of our front porch. Did you try relocating the nest?
That's funny. We had a bird nest out by our pool under our palapago thingy. It was full of little bird eggs. Then we had a nasty wind and they eggs were all blown out and crack all over our pool decking. I bet that was one said mama bird when she got home. Goes to show you should never leave your babies unattendent.
How crazy!
Birds, in general, can be so presumptuous about where they poop. I speak from experience.
Home wrecker!!
That wreath was asking for it.
Oh, look at all that hard work wasted. Of course, we have really cute bird houses hanging from our front yard tree.....but there was a coop and the squrrels took over. Poor birds, they always get the short end of the nest!

I think that is so cool, not the mess but the nest.
